WOWit is the most exciting software I have seen in
many years!
I have spent a lot of time with personal computers over the years, starting with the first “portable personal
computer”
back in 1981 which was designed by Mr. Osbourne.
It really excited me because it meant that every small business could have their very own computer.
It sported software like Word Star word processing and Super Calc spreadsheets 64K of Ram, had a 5” screen,
two floppy drives of 91K capacity and it was portable. Actually it weighed about as much as a Buick with a carrying
handle!
Soon it was up-staged by the Kaypro with a 9“ screen, two 195K capacity floppy drives (later a 10Meg hard drive)
and much lighter case. It still came with a whopping 64k of memory and the CPM operating system.
At the same time a group of guys at Stanford were inventing a thing called “Yahoo”. It seemed that the logical thing to concentrate my teaching
efforts on was the Internet. Other more experienced teachers were reluctant to change and thought
“well let’s just wait and see if this thing stays around very long.” Of course in those days a “High speed” modem
was operating at around 300 Baud and no-one could even imagine the possibility of the high speeds that exist
today with
Cable, DSL etc. I thought back then that the Internet was a great hope for the oppressed in the world because it
would open things up for
them to learn and to share. WOW! I may have been right. How many of you have a BLOG?
My nickname “The Web Professor” came from the fact that I started teaching in Community Colleges in
California
at a time shortly before the guys at Stanford introduced a thing call “Netscape” which was another
software package! That one blew the internet into full bloom!
So now along comes Joe Clayton with this product called, “WOWit!” which includes his invention the
